There is someone in my neighborhood that goes out flying about once a week. I'm always on the look out for them. I'm still uncertain of what this is called but I can tell it's fun. You can from time to time hear the Woo Hoo's. Reminds me a bit of Second Hand Lion's.

Coney Island California Love!
My dearest and most talented friend Brooke of Coney Island California makes these fabulous handmade and painted Toms. Recently she did a tutorial on how to paint your own transforming ordinary canvas shoes into a work of art. You can use any type of canvas shoes from Toms, Converse to Vans. In her tutorial she gives you step by step instructions on how to achieve your own personal look.To my surprise, I checked out her blog today and got an eyeful! She made me these amazing "Bobs", very affordably and still as comfy version of Toms, for my birthday. I couldn't believe it. Birthday surprise by blog. Woo Hoo. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and my favorite quote comes from Albus Dumbledore in the first novel. It goes
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live..."
Instead of going with a Harry Potter theme Brooke stated on her blog "I didn't want to make the shoes overwhelmingly referential to the books or film but I did want them to embody the meaning of the quote so I chose an anchor and a sparrow reminding one to always be a dreamer, but to never forget to stay grounded." I don't think I could have come up with anything so clever. Thank you so much Brooke, your talent never ceases to amazes me. I'm blown away by your creativity!
Toms don't stop there. You can also visit her Etsy shop where she makes these fabulous hand made and painted canvas bags. I myself am lucky to own two one of a kind totes from her shop.

What do you get when you live in a small town? Small business of course. One of my favorite places I visit frequently is a local book store coffee shop called the Bookcase. I come here often to order books, rummage through their vintage collections and just to simply enjoy conversation with the locals. I chose this picture as a reflection of how inviting this small book store is. I believe it's important to support your local residents and keeping your town alive. This place is very quaint and charming, family owned. Opening the door and walking in, I feel welcome to sit back relax and enjoy opening a book. In many ways this photo represents "Open" in many ways. Opening the door to a place you enjoy, opening a book and expanding your mind and keeping small businesses open.

Photo transfer onto canvas
I highly recommend using a laser copy of your photo. Laser copies are powder fused to the paper as opposed to inkjet which is liquid. The liquid will most likely bleed and not turn out as you hope. Also in which you will be down a canvas and your time. You can get a laser copy at any office supply store and cost less than a buck depending on size.
Most importantly to remember, your photo will be flipped so make sure if you are using any lettering in your image to have your image printed flipped to begin with!
In the end, you get an inexpensive and quite fabulous piece of art to display. You're friends and family are going to think you paid a fortune.
